Holly - Jim Dandy

"The Holly Jim Dandy, 'Ilex verticillata 'Jim Daddy', and formerly called Early Male, is best known for its shiny evergreen foliage with red berries. It is a much hardier Holly than others in its family. Although it has separate male and female parts, only the female plants can produce berries. (Use Ilex 'Red Sprite' as a pollinator to produce berries). In the wild, 'Jim Daddy' is found in wet soils, but it will grow well in average soil conditions and will tolerate drought once established. With a plant height of 3-6' and a width of 4-5', it is a showy plant in any garden, and it makes a great border planting."
